We take the meaning “outdoor” more than literally: our activities do not take place in a closed compound, but in the countryside around the centre. The landscape around the centre offers everything needed to experience the best kind of outdoor activities. Be it rock hopping on the shores of Loch Long, night hiking through the Argyll Forest, climbing Cnap Rhenhear behind the centre or canoeing on Loch Eck. And most of it in walking distance!

Learning outdoors is an important and recognised part of the Curriculum for Excellence. Therefore, everything we do at the centre is designed to help pupils become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors.

Differently, from most other outdoor centres, Ardentinny Centre is a registered charity.

That means that we do not work for profit, but for offering the best to our visitors. Because we believe in what we stand for: That everyone should be able to enjoy the benefits of outdoor education.

Instead of just giving an activity a try, we believe that our visitors should really experience the outdoor activities they are doing. That’s why each of our 2 daytime sessions last all morning and all afternoon, instead of the 1,5 hours that is increasingly offered at holiday centres.

In addition, our visitors will also experience outdoor and educational activities in the evenings – that’s why they are here, after all!

It will be difficult to find another centre located as beautiful and perfect for outdoor activities as ours: on the shores of Loch Long, we are surrounded by sea, mountains, lochs and the Argyll Forest Park, all part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park. And with a little luck, our visitors can catch a glimpse of our wildlife: porpoises, seals, red squirrels or even a golden eagle!

And while it definitely feels remote here, Ardentinny can be reached in just 90 minutes coming from Glasgow!
